Julie (she/her) joined Footsteps as a consultant in November 2018 as the organization’s first ever Senior Legal Strategist. She leads Footsteps’ ground-breaking legal reform initiative to protect the parenting rights of our members and to help preserve Footsteps childrens’ relationships with both their parents. Julie is well known as a voice advocating for reproductive freedom worldwide. She  litigated the landmark abortion rights case ABC v. Ireland before the European Court of Human Rights and is the co-author of Controlling Women: What We Must Do Now to Save Reproductive Freedom. Julie’s work combines legal expertise with personal narratives to bring an understanding of the pressing need for human-rights focused activism. Julie holds bachelor’s degree in women’s studies and social studies cum laude from Harvard University, and a J.D. cum laude with a focus on public interest law from Brooklyn Law School.
